Kindergarten 1st Grade CVC & HFW Fry Sight Word Practice Reading Passages & Game

These No Prep Sight Word Sentences, Practice Passages, Games and Worksheets with progressive phonics skills are fully aligned with the Science of Reading! A high level of support is provided. Just one sight word is added on each page.

The stories in the first half of this resource feature the focus sight word, previously introduced sight words and CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words.

Once students have had ample practice decoding CVC words, CVCe (consonant vowel consonant silent e) words are introduced and featured in the second half of the set.

Because sight words are introduced one at a time and decoding skills are progressive, these stories are ideal for use as decodable readers!

To provide high interest stories in which students never have to guess at a word, rebus pictures are used within selected sentences. Two games are presented after the introduction of every six words.

All of the First 100 Fry Words, as well as over 40 other high-utility words, are included.

This resource is ideal for use in kindergarten through first grade.

Each Sight Word Story is like a book on its own but is presented on one page. No time is spent cutting, folding or assembling!

Trace, Write and Find Worksheets were added to this resource on 2/28/2025. These additional pages are ideal either for introducing the sight word or for use in literacy centers.

This resource is ideal for small group instruction, homeschooling, whole class work, RtI, homework, and/or distance learning.

When reading the Sight Word Sentences, I encourage students to color in a star each time they read the page. Using Easel Activities, students can also highlight the focus sight word on each page.
